Myolie Wu credits ex Bosco with helping her to mature

HONG KONG: Actress Myolie Wu has given her ex-boyfriend actor Bosco Wong the ultimate accolade by crediting him with helping her to mature.

In contrast, Myolie jokes that her husband, Philip Lee, pampers her like a child.

Myolie is currently pregnant with her second child.

Reflecting on her colourful trajectory in romance, she said: “My two ex-boyfriends were both fantastic, one taught me to be a gentle lady and the other taught me to be a mature woman, but I like my current partner the most, he taught me how to go back to being a child.”

Myolie, 37, had joined TVB after placing third in the Miss Hong Kong pageant two decades ago.

For four years, she dated an Eurasian. They split up in 2005.

That year, she co-starred with Bosco in the drama Wars of In-Laws. They dated for the next seven years, although neither went public about the relationship.

Career-wise, Myolie peaked in 2011 by winning the Best TVB Actress award.

Looking back, Myolie figured that her relationship with Bosco taught her about how to handle matters in the best way.

After their break-up, Bosco got into several short-lived relationships, while Myolie focused on developing her career for audiences in mainland China.

In 2015, Myolie met Philip at a mutual friend’s birthday party. Recalling that moment, she said: “When I raised my head and saw him walking in, my heart skipped a few beats. It was love at first sight, and we hit it off really well, so much so that I kept wondering why I had met him only then.”

To her surprise, Philip asked her upfront if she had ever considered marriage and having children.

On why they are compatible, Myolie reckoned: “The most important was that we had common lines of communication, self-expression and values.

“We talk about everything under the sun and can forgo sleep just to chat. Whenever I have a myopic view, he would remind me to be grateful for the many things that I already have and not (merely) focus on the unhappy aspects.”
