PDRM, Interpol working together to combat terror, cross-border crimes
TAWAU: In an effort to combat terrorist activity and crossborder crimes in the Southeast Asia region, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and International Police (Interpol) are working together to address the issue.
Tawau district police chief, ACP Fadil Hj. Marsus said the operation, known as the Interpol Operation Maharlika, would be held in Sabah in an effort to combat cross-border crimes.
“Interpol is committed to sharing information faster in attempting to track all forms of crime and cross-border violence,” he said when attending the closing of the Pre-Operational Briefings Counter Terrorism Operation Maharlika II course here on Thursday morning.
A total of 29 senior and member officers completed the course, while Fadil presented the certificates.
Fadil said global security issues needed smarter enforcement, prevention and tracking, more comprehensive and effective.
The event was also attended by ESSCom’s Special Investigations and Technical Staff, SAC Ibrahim Chin, Ismail Hussien from Singapore, the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) officer, the Home Ministry’s Internal Security Officer (KDN) senior operations of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) and the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM).
