Tawau Kinabalu Pink Ribbon thanks supporters for contribution

-

TAWAU: The Tawau Kinabalu Pink Ribbon (TKPR) thanked Mrs Lo and group of AMC for their yearly support and generous contribution towards supporting its cause to create breast cancer awareness among women.

Its chairperson, Christy Fe Salazar, said Lo had been a strong supporter since the setting up of the association in Tawau.

She said the Tawau Pink Ribbon was a non-governmental and nonprofit voluntary organization with members comprising mainly of breast cancer survivors, family members and volunteers.

“Our aims and objectives are to provide emotional and psychological support to all breast cancer patients and survivors and their families, and counseling service during and after treatment,” she said.

Most of all, she said, was to increase the level of breast cancer awareness through public education as breast cancer was still the number one killer among women.

She said TKPR worked very closely with other relevant medical authorities not only to raise awareness but also to fight breast cancer by empowering and educating women on breast health care, and supporting survivors towards a better life.

She said awareness and education programs required funds to carry out activities and this could only be achieved with the generosity, kind support, participation and involvement from the public.

She said TKPR also had its Patient Welfare Fund where patients who were really in need would be assisted financially if they needed to go for further treatment.

Christy said currently TKPR had lived up to its aims and objectives in line with its vision and mission.
