Malaysia returns to AIME 2019 gearing up for VM2020

-

KUALA LUMPUR: To continue promoting Malaysia as the preferred business events destination internationally, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) together with 13 industry partners ranging from hotels, state bureaus and convention centres is participating in the leading exhibition for the meetings, incentives and events industry, Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) from February 18 to 20, 2019 at Melbourne, Australia.

“MyCEB has been participating in AIME since 2010, and it has proven to be the one of the best platforms for us to gain insights on the current business events industry trend,” MyCEB chief executive officer Datuk Zulkefli Sharif said.

“The platform offered at AIME enable us to meet and network with the right buyers and the exhibitors from the Asia Pacific region and across the world, hence create the opportunity to pick up leads and help our efforts in bidding world-class business events to be held in Malaysia.

“This is in line with our campaign as we gear up for the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020).”

The Visit Malaysia 2020 initiative not only aims to rally all industry players towards this common goal, but is a call to welcome tourists from all over the world to experience Malaysia’s warm hospitality and diverse tourist attractions.

Malaysia continues to participate at AIME 2019 to strengthen and increase Malaysia’s visibility as a preferred business events destination while enabling us to connect with key players in the business events industry, keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the meetings industry as well as further enhance our ideas and knowledge which will help stimulate Malaysia’s business events industry to the forefront.

This marked the ninth consecutive year of MyCEB’s participation at the prominent tradeshow and will sustain the momentum from a great showing in 2018 where MyCEB and its industry partners successfully secured a total of 152 business events, which delivered an estimated economic impact of RM1.58 million as well as attracted over 100,000 international delegates.

Despite the strong market challenges in 2018, MyCEB recorded a remarkable achievement of 27 per cent above the targeted KPI of 340,000 delegate days set by the MOTAC. This is the best performance since its inception in 2009, registering a notable figure of 430,868 delegate days.
