All affiliates told to send delegates to attend STA AGM

KOTA KINABALU: All affiliates are reminded to send their delegates to attend the Sabah Tennis Association Annual General Meeting this week.

Honorary secretary Tito Latoja said they had invited all affiliates to attend the AGM at Kinabalu Yacht Club here on March 2.

“It starts at 7pm and we have invited all affiliates to attend because this is an election year and we want full representation if possible,” he told The Borneo Post when contacted here, yesterday.

A slight concern looms on the status of affiliates that have not yet submitted their annual reports to the Sports Commissioner (SC).

“So far there are two affiliates that have yet to submit their reports or already submitted but not yet cleared by the SC.

“On the other hand, the affiliates have been cleared are Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Kudat, Lahad Datu, Kota Belud and Semporna,” Tito said.

Ranau and Papar are the only two affiliates that are doubtful for the AGM but STA hoped they would still be able to join.

Meanwhile, Johnson Koh is expected to retain his position as president although STA does not discourage anyone from coming forward to contest.

Koh has done a great deal for STA since becoming president more than 10 years ago. And while Koh retained his position uncontested at several previous AGMs, STA said it would welcome anyone who wished to contest for the hot seat.

“STA is grateful for all the contribution he (Koh) has made and the development he has brought to tennis in Sabah.

“I don't think anyone could have done more for the association. He accomplished many things for STA over the years but if anyone wishes to contest of course we will welcome them,” said Tito, who is also a seasoned coach for the association.
