Allianz to boost business in Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Allianz Malaysia Berhad is determined to enhance its insurance business in Sabah.

“Sabah is an important state for Allianz. We want to do well here, both in general insurance and life insurance,” said its chief executive office Zakri Khir.

“I think in general insurance we are number one in Kota Kinabalu, but in life insurance, I think are are a growing company here.

“For life insurance, we want to bring our people and agents here. We want to develop our market,” he told reporters when met at the grand opening of the the Allianz Kota Kinabalu Branch at Riverson Walk on Tuesday.

He revealed that Allianz’ Kota Kinabalu branch is currently the largest operation in the whole of East Malaysia.

“It’s a timely move (to relocate) as our life business expands in East Malaysia, particularly in Sabah.

“Allianz Kota Kinabalu is our flagship branch in the State and has been at the forefront, building a solid foundation for driving growth,” Zakri said in his officiating speech.

“While the market is underdeveloped, there are tremendous growth opportunities in Sabah and we see a lot of market potential here.

“In fact, out of our top five agencies, four are expanding to Sabah. So that already says a lot about our intention and commitment to Sabah and East Malaysia as a whole,” he added.

Allianz Kota Kinabalu moved from its old office in Sedco Complex, Jalan Albert Kwok on January 21.

“When the idea came about to relocate, the aim was simple, we wanted a space that would reflect on our commitment to our intermediaries - our agents, broker and business partners - and offer them service satisfaction and the best customer experience,” he said.

Occupying a spacious 10,000 square feet space on the first level, the full-service branch offers a friendlier look and feel.

Aimed at enhancing customer experience, the branch features a 1,700 share feet customer service area complete with discussion areas where customers can meet intermediaries to discuss their insurance needs.

Currently, Allianz Malaysia has 33 branches all over Malaysia, four of which are in Sabah (Kota Kinabalu, Lahad Datu, Sandakan and Tawau).

Among those present were Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad’s chief sales officer Horst Habbig and its Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan area manager Jimmy Hee as well as Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad chief executive office Joseph Gross and its chief sales officer Ong Pin Hean.
