Woman attacks sister-in-law over divorce interference
KOTA MARUDU: A woman allegedly attacked her sister-in-law with a machete for interfering with her divorce process.
Kota Marudu police chief Superintendent Mohd Izaan Abdullah said the incident happened at Kampung Talantang 2 here on Tuesday when the suspect, in her 50s, allegedly attacked her 57-year-old sister-in-law with a machete at a community hall in the village at around 11am on Feb 26.
"A quarrel between the women erupted inside the hall before the suspect pulled out a machete and attacked her victim.
"The victim tried to defend herself and sustained injuries on her left hand," he said yesterday.
According to police investigation, the suspect, who is a farmer, was angry with her sister-in-law as the latter continued to interfere with her divorce process.
The victim was taken to the district hospital for outpatient treatment and police have since detained the suspect for investigation.
The police have also seized the weapon that was used in the attack, said Mohd Izaan
The case is currently being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
