Suspected ‘agent’ of illegal foreign workers arrested
PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has arrested an Indian national believed to have been actively involved as an agent of illegal foreign workers for the past five years.
Immigration director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the 36-year-old man, who resided in the country since 2003, was detained at Seri Gembira Apartments, Taman Bamboo, Kuala Lumpur in a raid under the ‘Ops Serkap’ at about 11.30pm yesterday.
He said the inspection carried out at the apartment unit found 20 Indian passports and one Indonesian passport.
“Suspect is said to be earning more than RM15,000 a month as a result of the activity,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.
