Five old folks homes receive physiotherapy equipment

SEMENYIH: Five old folks homes in Selangor yesterday received zakat (tithe) contribution amounting to RM467,750 in the form of physiotherapy equipment.

Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) chief coordinating officer Abdul Basith Hamid said the contribution was given based on the awareness of the sedentary lifestyle among the individuals aged 60 and above.

“In reality, in Selangor, it is difficult to see outdoor activities such as gardening, going to the jungle, hunting and so on.

The sedentary lifestyle would cause the body and muscles to weaken and the physiotherapy equipment can help prevent it from happening, he said.

He said this to reporters after handing over the contribution to Pusat Jagaan Mahmudah Malaysia here.

Other homes that received the contribution are the Persatuan Kebajikan Al-Fikrah Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Penyayang Hani, Pusat Jagaan Siti Nor Aini and the Pusat Jagaan Nur Hasanah, with each receiving a set of physiotherapy equipment worth RM93,550 to facilitate healthy lifestyle of the homes’ residents. - Bernama
