Three illegals jailed
KOTA KINABALU: Three foreigners, including a woman, were jailed four months for entering Sabah illegally.
Marlina Ibrahim imposed the sentence on Al Nasir Al Hamid, 33, Mohd Jock Onsok, 37, and Nagiha Admin, 25, yesterday, after they admitted to separate charges under Section 6(1)(c) of the immigration Act 1959/1963.
The indictment provides for a maximum fine of RM10,000 or a jail term of up to five years and whipping, upon conviction.
In pleading for leniency, the accused persons, who were not represented, informed the court that they wanted to go back to their country as soon as possible.
Al-Nasir, Mohd Jock and Nagiha also told the court that they had worked as a contract worker, a fisherman and a waitress, respectively.
All of the accused were also ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for their biometrics data to be recorded before deportation.
Meanwhile, the same court fixed March 21 this year for re-mention of a man who was charged with overstaying in the state.
The judge made the order on Akhtar Ali, whose plea is not taken, for an Urdu interpreter.
Akhtar was accused of staying in the state even after his visit pass expired on August 11, 2018.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Sabrina Jinius prosecuted and the accused was not represented.
