25 traffic offenders fined

PENAMPANG: Twenty-five persons were charged and fined by the Traffic Mobile Court here for committing offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.

In the first case, a youth was fined RM5,000, in default, one week imprisonment for displaying a registration plate number that did not belong to his vehicle.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie meted out the fine on Haffizan Fadzil Ozely, 27, after he pleaded guilty as charged under Section 108(3) (f) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The indictment provides for a fine of up to RM20,000 or a maximum jail of five years or both, upon conviction.

Haffizan was apprehended during an police operation at Jalan Penampang Bypass on October 25, 2018.

In the second case, eleven persons were fined between RM1,200 and RM1,800 each, in default, one week jail for driving their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.

The offenders are Afizan Olong, Jessyella Jeve, Dora Abong, Mohd Faizal Ismail, Mimi Bebas, Sahidin Abdul Majid, Drason Jintara, Meron Leong, Ho Wei Leong, Juderayner J Spiri, and Fiqri Haziq Ah Yai.

The court also ordered for Jessyella's 'P' driving licence to be revoked.

All the offenders pleaded guilty as charged under Section 45A(1) of the same Act, which carries a fine of up to RM6,000 and a maximum jail of 12 months, upon conviction.

In the third case, 13 men were each fined RM500, in default, one week imprisonment after they admitted to driving without license.

The offenders were Ricky Soimun, Shah Nizam Matsah, Damil Milal, Jameson Rainold, Mohd Irfan Mohd Nin, Bento Hurint, Sultan Salween, Mohd Shafiq Karoulus Abdullah, Tahir Rendy, Christoper Voo Kok Chan, Mohd Ramzi Ahamad, Gabriel Alexander Melis and Kabul Andas.

All the offenders pleaded guilty as charged under Section 26(1) of the said Act 1987.

Traffic prosecuting officer Inspector Mohd Firdaus Che Mustafa told the court that all the offenders were arrested during separate operations in Penampang and the City areas.
