Persevere in education devt, says outgoing PCCC chief
KOTA KINABALU: Papar Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) outgoing president Datuk Liew Siew Kian urged the new committee members to persevere in the preservation and development of education.
He said one of the objectives of PCCC was to support education, namely Papar Middle School and other Chinese schools.
Liew, who has decided not to seek for another term, said this in PCCC's Annual General Meeting (AGM) cum election recently. The AGM also saw the presentation of study awards to members' children.
Liew has been the president of PCCC since 2008. He had also served as the vice president of the Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC), working alongside former presidents, the late Datuk Seri Panglima Sari Nuar and Datuk Seri Panglima Gan Sau Wah, as well as the incumbent president Tan Sri Andrew Liew.
"I am grateful for their guidance all these years."
Liew also thanked PCCC committee members for their support and cooperation in developing the district during his 11-year tenure as president.
“PCCC has been established for 71 years.
“Our predecessors bought this shoplot to serve as the secretariat 60 years ago, having to take out bank loan due to insufficient funds.
“I hope the new committee members will treasure the asset left behind by the predecessors of the association and continue to work hard towards preserving Chinese education.”
