Mix Media Team vying for honours in futsal tourney

KOTA KINABALU: Mix Media Team (MMT) will be vying for honours in the MILO 'Hidup Bola' Futsal Tournament, which will be held at the Yayasan Sabah futsal arena here, today.

MMT are fielding two teams comprising players from the Interior Zone and both teams will be competing in the Under12 junior category.

Team manager, Willie Jude Junaidi said among the objectives was to give the young players a chance to compete and gain exposure in the State capital.

“Before this we also competed in previous two editions of the Borneo Cup Tournament. It was in 2017 and 2018 and we managed to do quite well, which was good.

“This time, our target is to just give the players exposure and chance to compete and see action here in the city,” he said when contacted here yesterday.

According to Willie, they did not set any specific target but there is hope that the players would shine.

“Naturally, any team competing in a tournament would want to be the champions, but more important is gaining exposure so that the players can improve themselves and maybe one day have a career in football,” he said.

Towards this end, Willie thanked the sponsors including Keningau Wanita UPKO chief Datin Juliana Jani and Keningau UPKO Youth chief Clive Ilon Sipin for providing accommodation and logistics to the team.
