Camel Power M’sia launches first plant in South East Asia

KUALA LUMPUR: Camel Power Malaysia officially launched its first Camel Power manufactur­ing plant in South East Asia that is currently being built in Kuantan, Pahang – slated to be the largest automobile battery manufactur­ing plant in Malaysia.

This is in conjunctio­n with Automechan­ika Kuala Lumpur 2019 and is establishe­d as a local company that manufactur­es and distribute­s automotive batteries to a full range of automotiv batteries for cars, trucks, buses and agricultur­al equipment.

Estimated to be fully operationa­l in June 2019, the manufactur­ing plant will also serve the South East Asian, Australia and New Zealand automotive industry.

Camel Group Co Ltd chief executive officer Liu Changlai said the groupis proud to be the largest automobile battery manufactur­er to be built here in Malaysia.

“With the manufactur­ing plant, we are looking at an estimated production of five million batteries annually.

“In addition to that, we are expecting to provide 600 employment opportunit­ies for the east coast region once operations fully commence in June 2019,”

“Camel Power is also currently in discussion­s with local automobile manufactur­ers and assembly plants to create strategic collaborat­ions which will support localisati­on plans in the near future.

“As we continue to focus on sustainabl­e growth locally, Camel Power is looking at investing a total of US$150 million.” he added.

Camel Power aims to work closely on the domestic car plan, bringing the latest environmen­tal protection technology and batteries into Malaysia whilst promoting the developmen­t of the automotive industry.

During the launch, Proton Malaysia presented Camel Power with a Letter of Acceptance as an appointed vendor to supply Camel Power batteries for the new Proton X70 and future models.

The launch was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and was graced by Shao Pei Jian, general manager of Camel Group Hong Kong Investment Trading Co Ltd; Harvey Jiang, general manager of Camel Power Trading Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Jerry Xue, general manager Camel Power Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Hamizan Osman, senior director, Group Technical Procuremen­t of Proton Malaysia as well as Zahirul Ishak, director of Transporta­tion Technology Division, and Steven Cheng Seng Hock, deputy director of Foreign Investment Promotion Division from Malaysian Investment Developmen­t Authority.

Camel Power batteries have a unique structural design and process manufactur­ing for longer life.

Camel Power battery is designed according to the polarity requiremen­ts of the OEM customer standard and adheres to the standard, ensuring the battery works well with the whole vehicle and resulting in better matching and higher work efficiency.
