Vivian will be youngest female MP if she wins – Kit Siang

-

SANDAKAN: If the Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) candidate for the Sandakan parliamentary byelection, Vivian Wong Shir Yee, wins, she would be the youngest female member of parliament, said DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang.

Lim said if the people of Sandakan vote for Wong and make her the youngest female MP, then the voters here would be the people who break the record and create history.

He said this to the people of Kampung Sim-Sim water village in support of Vivian’s walkabout session here yesterday at about 5 pm. Lim also told the people that Vivian would be the right choice because she has the passion to serve others as proven in her charity works that she had done in the past, including volunteering in welfare projects in countries like Indonesia and Cambodia. “Now, we not only want her to serve humankind, we want her to serve the people of Sandakan. Give her a chance, let Vivian serve the people of Sandakan by voting for her,” Lim said.

Also present with Vivian during her walkabout session to distribute campaign flyers was Tanjong Papat assemblyman cum DAP Sabah acting chairman and Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung.

Vivian is the daughter of former Sandakan MP, the late Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt, who was also Minister of Health and People’s Wellbeing, who passed away recently leaving his seat vacant.

She was often seen crying with the villagers of Sim-Sim every time she had walkabout session there as the villagers of Sim-Sim were close to the late Stephen Wong.

Vivian said that some villagers would invite her into their homes to show her photos of them and her late father, and then tell her that they treasure their memories with her late father as Stephen had contributed a lot to the villagers here.
