Kasi Group investing in LNG Bunkering Simulator technology

-

Kasi Group is investing on the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Bunkering Simulator technology and innovation by Wartsila.

“Wartsuka Kuquefied Natural Gas bunkering simulator is yet another milestone for us as a company that believes in investing in technology and innovation, particularly in the area of maritime-based simulation training,” said Ben Nair, the executive director of Kasi Group during the world premier demonstration held at the group’s office near here.

He explained that the state-of-the-art simulator is designed to train, assess and certify crew members of liquid cargo tankers, gas carriers and terminals, as well as other staff responsible for the safe cargo handling and operation of auxiliary equipment.

“This simulator is an ideal solution for training centres like ours, academies, government authorities, shipping companies, coastal centres and crewing agencies,” he said.

Ben also said the Emission Control Area (ECA) Law would be implemented next year.

He said that shipowners sailing international waters would have to comply with the law which is implemented to address the issues of climate change.

He said that the shift of ships utilising heavy oil to LNG is a positive step and that Kasi Group is proud to be able to contribute to the movement.

He reminded that Malaysia is one of the largest producers of LNG in the world, hence Petronas should take the lead.

His statement was echoed by Wartsila Voyage Solution’s Sales Director North America, Timothy Park who said that Petronas would be the perfect candidate to build the infrastructure to fuel ships with LNG.

He also said that there were now 138 ships around the world that are using LNG engine, which is cleaner and produce less emission.

Also present at the event was Kasi Group’s managing director, Datuk Captain Walter Nair and Wartsila Voyage Solutions’ Sales director, Ricardo Puig.
