Students invited to take part in Tennis Coaching Clinic

-

The Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA) is inviting students from schools in the Sandakan district to take part in the Tennis Coaching Clinic (TCC).

The TCC will be conducted every Saturday to begin on August 10 and to end on October 26.

President of SDTA, Fernando D. Rulloda, said the objective of the TCC was to introduce and promote the game at the grassroots level, especially among schoolchildren and youth in the community.

“We would like to invite students to take part in this clinic which is to be held every Saturday for 12 weeks from 7:30am to 9:30am.

“The number of participants per school is six students and they are advised to wear proper sports attire and shoes, and should bring drinking water and hat or cap.

“The Tennis Coaching Clinic will be held at SDTA Clubhouse where a highly experienced local coach and assistant coach will be conducting the clinic,” he said in a statement to the press yesterday.

Fernando added that a certificate of participation would be handed out to the trainees after the completion of the TCC and that a minitennis tournament would also be organised to identify the best trainees during the duration of 12 weeks.

Gifts will be given to the winners.

“Those that have successfully completed the clinic will be accepted into SDTA’s Coaching Programme and further training will be conducted to improve their skill so they can represent their respective districts and the state in the future,” he added.
