White Orchid's revamped menu features Thai Oriental cuisine

White Orchid, a restaurant outlet at Imago shopping mall has introduced its revamped menu featuring Thai Oriental cuisine.

Everyday Gourmet Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Randy Foong, said, the new menu boasts a wider selection of dishes, desserts and beverages to appeal to discerning taste buds of its gourmet.

Randy and his wife, Lucy Tsen, are founders of White Orchid, Lucy's Kitchen, Gelato Lab, and Zing Restaurant & Bar which operates under a subsidiary of Everyday Gourmet.

There are more than 100 items on the menu and Randy recommends the signature dishes, which include Tom Yam prawn broth, Thai prawn curry in coconut shell, roasted sliced duck with condiments and duck soup, steamed fish with garlic and lime juice, Thai spicy beef soup and Thai-style red curry duck.

“We focused on Thai cuisine when White Orchid was opened in September last year, but we now introduce a new menu to suit local taste buds,” he said at a food tasting session here.

And what better way to finish off a meal with desserts ranging from chestnut and jackfruit in coconut milk, mango sticky rice, fried cempedak spring roll, Thai milk tea crepe cake or ‘kakigori', a Thai shaved ice concoction!

For beverages, Randy suggests trying the Thai milk tea with pearl or Tom Yam mojito, essentiall­y a refreshing mocktail made from chilli, lemongrass, mint leaves and galangal.

He said the flavours and taste of the dishes and desserts were developed by Lucy after learning from authentic chefs in Thailand.

In conjunctio­n with the National month, he said, White Orchid is offering a 10 percent discount off the total bill from August 1 to 31, except for promotiona­l items and set lunch menu.

In addition to the new dishes, the restaurant also offers claypot curry fish at a promotiona­l price of RM38 and set lunch on weekdays. White Orchid is open from 10 am to 10 pm. Also present were business developmen­t director Ming Teoh and marketing executive manager Jan Luk.
