Breast cancer awareness program for Pinktober month

Kinabalu Pink Ribbon (KPR) will spearhead its Pinktober month in October with a Pink Health Symposium featuring talks on breast cancer by Prof Dr Nurul Aisah Abd Taib of the Department of Surgery, University Malaya.

"Assistant Education and Innovation Minister Jeniffer Lasimbang, who is also Moyog assemblywo­man has consented to be the guest of honour in this one-day program which will be held on September 28 at Wisma PPS in Penampang," said president of KPR, Nancy Tham after a recent courtesy visit to the ministry.

"Other speakers at the symposium will be oncologist, head of the department at Likas Woman and Child Hospital, Dr Flora, certified performanc­e coach and psychology practition­er Johan Amilin and health and wellness educator Regina Beh," she added. Nancyalsob­riefedthea­ssistant minister on the associatio­n's month-long global campaigns, among which will be fundraisin­g drives for breast cancer patient support and welfare, namely Zumbathon Party in Pink, Glamorous Catwalk Pinktober Tea Party, Tawau Pink Run, outreach as well as several breast cancer awareness programs.

"Funds raised from the events will go to support for breast cancer patients and welfare cash assistance," emphasised Nancy.

Meanwhile, the symposium seating is limited to 200 attendees. Those interested to learn more about the disease are invited to register in this free program.
