SAPP reminds DAP of 50% net revenues, 20% oil royalties to Sabah

The exciting news announced by the Kota Kinabalu member of parliament Chan Foong Hin that the Prime Minister will announce the return of 40% nett tax revenues to Sabah on 16 September 2019 is welcome, says Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

Its information chief, Chin Vui Kai, reminded Chan that before the last general elections, his party leader, Lim Guan Eng, in the presence of Sabah and Sarawak DAP leaders, had promised that the federal government would refund 50% of the nett tax revenues to Sabah.

“Chan should explain what has happened to the balance of 10%. Or whether the DAP now wants to forget about the 50% promise,” he added.

“Even at 40%, the amount that is owning to Sabah ever since 1974 is RM1 trillion, according to the figure revealed by Datuk Darell Leiking before the elections. At the time, Datuk Darrel was the MP for Penampang, a senior leader in Parti Warisan. He is now the federal Minister of International Trade and Industry and the deputy president of Parti Warisan.

“As Chan seems to have advanced information about the 40% nett revenues to be refunded to Sabah, Chan is ahead of the federal ministers and the Sabah Chief Minister and Sabah Cabinet. The reasonable assumption is that Chan got his advanced information from his party leader, who is also the federal Minister of Finance.

“Therefore, the people of Kota Kinabalu look forward to the RM2 million that is needed to complete the Sky Bridge from Asia City to Api Api Centre and Oceanus Shopping Complex. Sandakan people are also hunger for the allocation of the RM2.28 billion promised to the people of Sandakan last May during the Sandakan by-election.

“The people of Sabah are also eagerly waiting for news of the 20% oil royalties to be given to Sabah and Sarawak as promised by DAP and contained in the Pakatan Harapan manifesto,” said Chin.
