Draw with Selangor gives motivation for players — Elavarasan

-

The chance to advance into the second round of the 2019 Malaysia Cup for PDRM squad was still open when they managed a 2-2 draw with Selangor in a Group D match Wednesday night, which served a major motivation for E. Elavarasan’s squad after stealing one point.

However, he said his team’s journey was still a long way and they should not be too satisfied with what they had achieved thus far but keep on improving their performance in the remaining matches.

“Not that we want to be satisfied but after this, if we win the match it would be better for the team to advance into the second round.

“The three teams in the group including Melaka United need to work harder as the points gap between the teams is relatively small. Any team that won the match would earn valuable points to be in a strong position in the group,” he told reporters after the match.

At Hang Jebat Stadium Wednesday night, ‘The Cops’ opened scoring in the 28th minute through Uche Agba.

Selangor, under the guidance of B. Sathianathan, got back into the game and found an equaliser in the 68th minute through Taylor Regan and 12 minutes later Ifedayo Omosuyi put Selangor ahead but PDRM stole a point through Lee Chang-hoon in the 87th minute.

Sathianathan, meanwhile, said his players did not maintain their focus after leading the match as they consider it is easy to play against PDRM and the team lost several players due to injuries thus affecting their performance.
