Taekwondo Cup 2019 enhances standards in Sabah — UTSA
KOTA KINABALU: President of the United Taekwondo Sabah Association (UTSA) Francis Langkab was invited to attend the First Courage Martial Arts Taekwondo Cup 2019 that will be held at 1Borneo Hypermarket on September 13 - 15.
Francis believed that this competition would enhance the state’s taekwondo stardards, especially creating a chance to expose the local talents to the taekwondo competition.
“It is imperative to cultivate the younger generation of Taekwondo elites so that it will continuously bring more young talents to participate in the sport,” he said.
At the same time, he said UTSA would be providing technical assistance for the competition so that the respective talents can learn from the particular competition through brainstorming.
Meanwhile, Technical chairman of UTSA Master Raman Anthony, Master Ben Wong and Master Alex Chong will also be attending the event.
First Courage Martial Arts Taekwondo Cup 2019 organising chairman Chin Tek Ming mentioned earlier, the event would also help to bring the distance of the Taekwondo clubs within the Sabah closer. Thus, it can promote the sport through mutual experience exchanges and so on.
Around 1,000 taekwondo exponents representing 30 clubs from across Sabah are expected to compete at the First Courage Martial Arts Taekwondo Cup 2019 which will be divided into five weight divisions for boys and girls. It is open for students aged 6-18.
“The exponents will see action in poomsae (form) and kyorugi (free sparring) disciplines,” he said.
The registration fees for kyorugi (free sparring) disciplines is RM70, poomsae (form) disciplines is RM50, the duo is RM100, and the group is RM150.
