Sepanggar take on Semporna in KDM Football League s-final

KOTA KINABALU: The KDM Malaysia Football League Tournament continues with two exciting matches in the semi-final fixtures this weekend.

Among those to feature in clash are KDM Sepanggar who take on KDM Semporna at the Likas Stadium on Sunday.

Sepanggar face a tough challenge in this fixture. The new-comers will have to entertain a formidable opponent comprising young players from Tawau FA, who were champions of the Liga Bola Sepak Rakyat last year.

The team from Semporna also have services from former State players like Shahrul Azhar Ture, Leopold Alfonso Otong, Zulfadlish­am Roseland, Arifiyansa­h Abdul Jaafar and Masran Masri among others.

The other semi-final match will see KDM Kudat host KDM Telupid at the Kudat Sports Complex the same day. The match in Kudat is scheduled to kick off at 3.45pm, while the other match in Likas is scheduled to start at 7.45pm.

Sepanggar made it to the semi-finals after finishing second in the group challenge. Team manager Haslan Rahi hoped his side would score early to gain the advantage.

They will rely on the services of players like Julamri Muhammad, Mohd June Azral Lalah, Abdul Thaufiq Haq, Nelmon Geoffrey and Shahrul Chankui among others.

Also on their side are former JDT II player Yuhendri Rusdi and Fariss Azlan Mat Esah, formerly with PKNP.

Towards this end, Haslan urged all football fans especially supporters of their team to turn up in numbers to show their support.

The tournament, organised by the Malaysian Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) Organisati­on with the cooperatio­n of the Youth and Sports Ministry, involves a total of 32 district teams.

Teams were divided into eight groups where the top two teams from each group made it through to the knockout stage.
