PUCM: Several MoUs expected at China Smart Industrial Exhibition
KUALA LUMPUR: The China Smart Industrial Exhibition is expected to see several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) inked between Chinese technology firms and state governments, as well as local companies.
Organised by China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM), the exhibition will be held at Mid Valley Megamall on Dec 14 and 15 this year.
PUCM president Datuk Keith Li said the state governments, particularly Perlis and Kedah, had expressed keen interest in technologies related to artificial intelligence and smart technology products from the republic.
“They have shown great interest in bringing Chinese smart technologies to their states,” he told Bernama after paying a visit on Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang yesterday.
Six business matching sessions between Chinese technology firms and local companies would also be held during the two-day event, he said adding that Malaysian government bodies and agencies welcome high tech and smart products, including those from China.
“This can be seen when Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mathathir Mohamad visited China (in April this year), he had visited Chinese technology company Huawei Technologies Co Ltd headquarters and AI pioneer SenseTime Group Ltd’s office.
“SenseTime founder Professor Xiao’ou Tang is even appointed as the board member of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, being the first foreigner ever appointed in the country’s sovereign wealth fund,” he said.
Hence, to further promote AI and smart technologies from China, the two-day event said Li, would enable Malaysian government, smart industry trade players and the public to gain more knowledge about China’s smart technology, products and services.
“The event will also promote better interactions between the Chinese industrial players and the local community, introduce more advanced Chinese products and technologies to Malaysia in order to assist the country’s economic development,” he said.
The exhibition will feature Chinese information and communication (ICT) technology companies such as leading robot manufacturer Ubtech Robotics, China Mobile International Ltd, China Telecom Corporation Ltd and Vivo Communication Technology Co Ltd.
“Currently, about 40 companies have engaged with us, of which 70 per cent are Chinese firms while the rest are local companies,” he said.
The exhibition he said, also received support from various government bodies and agencies such as the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association in Malaysia (PERDASAMA), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the SME Association of Malaysia (SME), Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) and Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MYCEB).
