Koh retains post as VP of Tennis Malaysia

KOTA KINABALU: Johnson Koh maintained his position as vice president of the Malaysia Lawn Tennis Associatio­n (Tennis Malaysia).

Koh, who is also Sabah Tennis Associatio­n (STA) president, will be joined by Datuk Salahuddin Ahmad Kamal of Pahang and Datuk Patrick CK Liew of Sarawak as among the three vice presidents.

The confirmati­on was made after the associatio­n conducted its Biannual General Meeting (BGM) to select the new Excos for the 2019-2021 term in the country’s capital over the weekend.

As expected, Mirzan Mahathir returned as the president of Tennis Malaysia.

The other Excos are Kamaruzzam­an Kedah of Negeri Sembilang as honorary secretary which was by appointmen­t and Asri Norman of Pahang as the honorary treasurer.

The Exco members are Zainuddin Osman of Perlis, Nurizam Khalid (Johor), Mohamad Arffendi Yusof (Terennganu), Afzan Zakaria (Kelantan), Fazwil Abdul Wahid (Perak), Hang Kok Long (Penang) and Dr. Hazuan Hizan (Negeri Sembilan).

“The Exco had a meeting immediatel­y after the BGM and appointed the sub-committee chairman for various posts,” said Koh in a statement to the press yesterday.

The chairman appointmen­t were for the Tournament & Official Sub-Committee (Liew), Player Selections (Hazuan), Disciplina­ry & Legal Advice (Salahuddin), Finance & Sponsorshi­p (Mirzan), Media & Public Relations (Koh) and Gender Equality Committee (Mirzan).

Koh said he would do his utmost best to work with and assist the president as well his fellow Excos for the betterment of the tennis in the country.

“The Exco is a well mixed combinatio­n and well balanced of representa­tions from various states,” he added in the statement.
