KOTA KINABALU: Repsol Oil and Gas Malaysia Limited (Repsol) yesterday presented RM50,000 donation to five charity bodies here.

The charity recipients are Yayasan Nur Jauhar, Bukit Harapan, Persatuan Anak-Anak Yatie Ar-Raudhoh Tawau, Jireh Home and Persatuan Orang Pekak Labuan.

The amount was collected from Repsol’s volunteering efforts in climbing Mount Kinabalu to raise funds for the recipients.

The handing over of donation was done by Repsol senior manager of stakeholder relations, Ahmad Fakrurrazi Arshad and witnessed by Head of State Tun Haji Juhar Mahiruddin, who is also the patron of Yayasan Nur Jauhar.

In his speech, Fakrurrazi said the company’s volunteers had raised more than RM400,000 and distributed to local charities in Sabah and Labuan over the years since the first Mt. Kinabalu Climb fund raising in 2013.

Repsol Oil and Gas Malaysia Limited is a subsidiary of Repsol Group SA, an energy company with operations and interests around the globe and headquartered in Madrid, Spain.

It started operations in Sabah after taking over a production platform offshore Labuan in an oil field known as Kinabalu.

In an effort to increase production, Repsol put in additional investment to redevelop the field where they had installed another production platform next to the existing Kinabalu platform.

“While we are focused on our operations, we are also mindful that our licence to operate includes being a good corporate citizen by contributing towards the communities in which we operate.

“We consistently seek out to help improve the quality of life in the communities in collaboration with various government and non-government organisations.

“We allocate around RM4 million annually to implement social investment programmes that are focused on safety, education, health and capacity building for needy communities in Malaysia, of which a third is collected for Sabah,” said Fakrurrazi.

Also present yesterday was Repsol relations adviser for Sabah and Labuan, Datuk Eddie Abdullah.

Earlier before the handing over ceremony, a golf tournament “TYT-Repsol Networking Good 2019” was held between the Istana and Repsol team.
