Sazarice launches new rice at consumer campaign

-

KOTA KINABALU: Leading rice distributor Sazarice Group held a very successful consumer campaign themed “Have a Rice Day” at Imago Mall here over the weekend.

Consumers were given a comprehensive insight into the varieties of rice marketed by the company, including the latest addition, Sazarice Pusa Cream which was launched at the carnival by the Group’s Executive Director Akip Bin Ismaila.

“Pusa Cream is a long grain Basmati rice from India which has been parboiled to better retain its nutrients,” Akip said at the launching, coinciding with the unveiling of the Sazarice mascot named Momom (local colloquialism for “to eat”).

“It is a rice for the healthconscious, packed with high fibre and vitamins but with no gluten or cholesterol and less starchy,” he explained.

Invited Chef Mansor Sulaiman used the rice to demo-prepare a pancake, pudding and fish fillet with garlic coriander pusa rice for the guests to savour.

The Pusa Cream is sold in major supermarkets priced at RM40 to RM45 for a five-kilo pack.

Customers who purchased Sazarice-brand rice at the fair were eligible to participate in a lucky draw offering an air fryer as the top prize, together with microwave rice cooker, microwave oven and one pack of 5kg Sazarice Pusa Cream as consolation prizes for five winners.

The lucky draw winners were Neesa (air fryer), Mary Voo Yuen Moi (microcomputer rice cooker), Thien Fen Fu (microwave oven), Nicole Kong (Sazarice Pusa Cream 5kg), Rosiana Harbi (Sazarice Pusa Cream 5kg), Muhammad Adib Bin Muhamad Yusoff (Sazarice Pusa Cream 5kg), Olentinah Guten (Sazarice Pusa Cream 5kg) and Shah Rin Balaludin (Sazarice Pusa Cream 5kg).

The carnival also showcased the effort taken by Sazarice to ensure the quality and safety of its rice for consumers.

According to Sazarice’s Head of Marketing, Rayner Kilik, bulk imported rice is passed through a conveyor screening machine at its depot in Kolombong to sift out impurities and foreign particles before they are polished to create silky sparkling rice sorted into full, half and broken grain classifications for packing and retail sale.

A blood donation campaign was also held jointly with the Red Crescent Society where 237 pints of blood were collected. Every donor was given a goody bag with Sazarice’s 1kg rice pack and other items.

The Sazarice Group, established in 1997, is comprised of Sazarice Sdn Bhd whose business operation covers the western flank of the state and Sabarice Sdn Bhd which covers the eastern half, with a total of six distribution hubs statewide.

Sazarice Group sells a broad range of white rice, fragrant rice and specialty rice.
