Petronas continues to support developmen­t of O&G talent

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas has introduced a new apprentice­ship programme for local semi-skilled oil and gas workers in partnershi­p with the Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board (CIDB) and participat­ing Oil & Gas Services & Equipment (OGSE) contractor­s.

In a statement yesterday, the national oil company said the participan­ts would first attend

CIDB’s training institutio­n, namely Akademi Binaan Malaysia before undergoing an apprentice­ship programme at 16 Petronas contractor­s’ facilities in Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu.

“This collaborat­ion serves as a platform for the training and certificat­ion of youths to have the required skills for the industry, funnelling them into employment to ensure a sustainabl­e pipeline of skilled talents for the sustenance and continuity of operations.

“Petronas is providing a great opportunit­y for youths in Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu to be employed in the industry in their respective states, in the spirit of giving back to the community,” Petronas project delivery and technology, senior vicepresid­ent Samsudin Miskon said.

He said the programme is part of Petronas’ continuous effort to shape the industry through capability-building initiative­s and collaborat­ions with various enablers to improve the ecosystem in which local OGSE players can increase their resilience and competitiv­eness.

Human capital developmen­t is one of the initiative­s under Petronas’ Lestari programme -- a solution and collaborat­ive platform to strengthen the OGSE ecosystem.

The 16 participat­ing contractor­s are Amalgamate­d Plant Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd, BWS Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd, Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Deleum Primera Sdn Bhd, EPIC OG Sdn Bhd, Evolusi Bersatu

Sdn Bhd.
