Joyce bags Penampang Strongest Women title

-

KOTA KINABALU: There seems to be no stopping Joyce Heng.

The 32-year-old had just won the Penampang Strongest Women title over the weekend but she wants to achieve even more.

For the next 12 months, Joyce revealed her target of wanting to break into the top 10 of the world strongest women ranking.

As of now, her all-conquering form last year saw her jump six places to 16th in the list on 48 points.

And she vowed to do her utmost best to achieve her target this year.

“I’m happy with my current ranking and with more training and to be able to compete regularly especially in overseas tournaments, I think I will have a good chance of breaking into the top 10.

“That will my main target for 2020,” said Joyce, who is now the highest ranked Asian in the list that Donna Moore from England leads with 194 points.

“My next competition will be in the Arizona Strongest Woman competition to be held in the United States from February 29- March 1.

“However, it will all depend on my visa application for me to compete there.

“I will need to meet the Youth and Sports Minister YB Ginger Phoong soon to have his supporting letter for that,” she added.

Joyce, whose best achievement was winning the Static Monster World title in Australia last year, also planned to compete in the Indonesia’s Strongest Woman in March followed by the World Strength Games USA (April), Arnold Classic Africa (May), Static Monster USA (July) and Thailand Strongest Woman (July).

“There will be other competitions but that will be added later on,” she said.

Meanwhile, Joyce enhanced her reputation as the best in the state and country by lifting the Penampang Strongest Women title held at Buhavan Square in Donggongon over the weekend.

Joyce collected 72 points after completing six classic strongman challenges followed by Onnie with 66 points and Flavia with 55 points.

The event was one of the competitions under the Penampang Strongman and Ninja Warrior Tournament jointly organised by the Pusat Khidmat Rakyat Parlimen P.174 Penampang, MARii and Penampang Act of Kindness Association (PAKA).

Minister of International Trade and Industries, who is also Penampang MP Datuk Darrel Leiking presented the prizes to the winners.
