KOTA KINABALU: A 33-year-old man claimed trial at the Sessions Court here yesterday to consuming syabu (methamphetamine) repeatedly.

Gabriel Asau’s plea was taken before judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim, which he denied to have taken amphetamine and methamphetamine at a police hut in Indah Permai here at 2.10pm on October 7, 2019.

He is charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39C(1)(b) of the same Act since he had two previous convictions of consuming syabu.

The court fixed April 15-16 this year for trial and advised the accused to apply for a counsel under the National Legal Aid Foundation or to appoint a counsel.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Faezah Jafry prosecuted while the accused was not represented.
