Unifi broadband services launched in Bongawan
BONGAWAN: The Bongawan community will now have better Internet access thanks to Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) Sabah's expansion of its high speed Unifi broadband services.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the availability of high speed broadband unifi in Bongawan reflectedthe Sabah Warisan Government's commitment to bring unbeatable value of Unifi to urban, sub-urban and undeserved areas in Sabah.
"I'm excited to welcome the arrival of Unifi to Bongawan.
"The tremendous benefits that it brings is hoped to boost the growth of local industry and ultimately the standard living of the local community.
"While the Internet opens vast opportunity and enable us to embrace digital lifestyle, it is also important that we use the Internet responsibly," he said at the Unifi launch in Bongawan township yesterday.
Also present were Minister of Education and Innovation Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob, Assistant
Minister of Education and Innovation Jenifer Lasimbang, and TM Sabah general manager Datuk Haji Mohd Sainal Mohd Amin.
Shafie said he was grateful to see TM's initiative and commitment to bring high speed broadband to outskirt areas in Sabah.
"This will potentially lead to the growth of digital economy and the adoption of digital lifestyle among Sabahans," he said.
Meanwhile, Shafie said that the broadband internet during the previous government, was not only more expensive but also slower.
"The price of broadband now, under the Sabah Warisan Government, is not only cheaper but much faster as compared to when it was under the previous government.
"High speed Internet access will not only improve the lifestyle of our people but also help bring in more foreign investment, business opportunity and tourists to the area," he said.
