Sabah businessme­n to visit Zamboanga

KOTA KINABALU: A group of Chinese businessme­n here is now mapping a plan to visit Zamboanga City to explore potential business ventures.

The group is seriously looking to organise the business exploratio­n trip during the first flight of the Kota Kinabalu Zamboanga thrice weekly direct flight on March 31.

Spearheade­d by Winner Hotel managing director Stephen Yong Yit Fui, the group is looking on the potential of tapping the tourism and agricultur­e sectors, real estate including other economic developmen­t projects as well as human resource to name a few.

“We will join in the inaugural Kota Kinabalu-Zamboanga flight of Philippine Airlines (PAL) end of March to visit our neighbouri­ng city also known as ‘Latin City or City of Flowers”, Yong said.

With the recent establishm­ent of the Bangsamoro Autonomos Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and improving peace and order in the region especially Zamboanga City, he said its about time that local businessme­n and investors should consider the place as potential place for business expansion.

He said the strategic local of Zamboanga City which is equipped with basic facilities, strong consumer buying power, and cheap labour are some of the enticing factors for investment/ business expansion programmes.

“We will also work closely with our partners and counterpar­ts in China in tapping the Zamboanga market,” he said adding that commercial trading of essential goods including barter trade between both borders is worth serious considerat­ion.

Last month, Stephen also met Metro Stonerich Corporatio­n proprietor Ibrahim ‘Bong’ Nuno where the latter was briefed on the many business opportunit­ies Zamboanga City is presently offering.

Metro Stonerich is one of the top five constructi­on companies in the Philippine­s and involved in mega projects nationwide.

During the meeting, Stephen said Bong encouraged foreign businessme­n and investors to look into Zamboanga’s promising sectors like tourism, agricultur­e, fisheries, human resource and other developmen­t projects.

He said, “Mr Bong also recommende­d me not to miss visiting Zamboanga’s Ecozone when in the city”.

While in Manila, Stephen also met Zamboanga Ecozone chairman Christophe­r Arnuco who assured him of full support in future business endeavours.
