Ministry continues to empower Village Community Management Councils – Ewon

-

KUDAT: The State Rural Development Ministry will continue to empower the Village Community Management Councils (MPKKs) bodies in Sabah through the implementation of more management and administration courses.

Its minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick said that the ministry would be conducting 10 courses this year in order to increase the understanding level of the MPKK leaders on their responsibilities and functions at the grassroots level.

“The course would first be held at Tanjong Kapor and then it will continue at Pantai Manis, followed by the other constituencies.

“The ministry has decided to carry out 10 courses for this year. However, this would also depend on our remaining allocation. I hope that we would be able to add another one or two courses for the other constituencies,” said Ewon in his speech at the closing ceremony of the said course at the Dewan Mini Pejabat Daerah Kudat on Thursday.

Among those present in the event were Tanjung Kapor assemblyman Ben Chong, the Deputy Permanent Secretary to the State Rural Development Ministry Aftar Nurajat and Kudat District Officer Sapdin

Ibrahim.

Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian assemblyman, said that the course would focus on matters such as customary land rights, security, preservation of environment, rural development and so on.

He said that the course would also involve the other departments and agencies under his ministry.

Separately, Ewon said that he would look into the complaints regarding the delay of the payment of allowance for the some of the MPKKs.

He said that the ministry would soon introduce an online method for payments.
