7th Ruhiang Kiulu Adventure successful – organisers

KOTA KINABALU: Organisers are happy with the staging of the 7th Ruhiang Kiulu Adventure challenge that was held at Kiulu Hall on Sunday.

Casero Events managing director Steve Johnny Mositun said he was happy with the successful staging of the annual event which attracted more than 300 participan­ts.

“We didn’t get as many entries as in previous editions but everything went smoothly and all the participan­ts enjoyed the race.

“The route was a bit challengin­g for some of the participan­ts but we are glad that all of them emerged as winners for daring to challenge themselves to join the race,” Steve said.

The race featured various categories including Men’s Open won by Arikchely, followed by Yasbie Ismail and Sapirin Sumping in second and third places. Marlin Hing William won the Women’s Open with Madeliene See Lie Chie in second and Liew Len Fong in third.

The Men’s and Women’s Veteran were won by Ruston Masri and Kona Liau.

As per previous edition’s, the event this year also featured the Ride for Nature which also had similar categories.

Johnie Ngogoly won the Men’s Open, while Atitlie Markus won the Women’s Open. Philip Fong won the Men’s Veteran. There was no Women’s Veteran category in the Ride for Nature event.

Political secretary Joisin Romut officiated at the event representi­ng Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.

Meanwhile, Tamparuli district officer Joseph Bangguan, who was also the event’s co-chairman and co-organiser, thanked everyone for making the event a successful one. They included the Tuaran district police office, Youth and Sports Ministry, Tourism, Culture and Environmen­t Ministry and Sabah Tourism Board.

He also thanked Ben Wong of Ararat Sports & Souvenir Sdn Bhd for sponsoring Carino shirts as the event’s official sports wear and Boey Chin of Tamparuli Sticker for sponsoring the promotiona­l banners.

Others on the thank you list were 100Plus, Maggie, FLC, kiihoii. com, atukoi fm, Hey Gaman Photograph­y, KDCA Youth Council, SSBS Amateur Radio and volunteers from Kiulu, St John Ambulance, as well as members of the Casero Events crew not forgeting all the participan­ts for their support.
