Call for action against sacked political secretary
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR Women chief Rahimah Majid has called for a proper inquiry and disciplinary action against Sabah PKR Youth chief Raymond Ahuar, following his abrupt sacking as political secretary to Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Christina Liew.
“In this matter, Ahuar should be given the right and proper venue to defend himself over whatever allegations there are that led to his removal from his political appointment. This should be conducted by PKR Disciplinary Bureau, as soon as possible. And, if he is indeed found guilty of some serious wrongdoings with evidences, then he should be charged accordingly, if it's a criminal offence, and should be sacked from the party (PKR) immediately.
“This is necessary in order to protect the party's good name and integrity as a key component party of the ruling coalition Pakatan Harapan. Failing which, it will send the wrong message to the public, members and supporters especially, that PKR is condoning misdeeds of its leaders,” she said.
Rahimah who is also PKR Central Leadership Council member cum Kudat division chief, was responding to news report on Ahuar's unceremonious removal as the political secretary to Liew, who is also Sabah PKR chairman, MP for Tawau and Api-Api state assemblywoman.
A legal practitioner herself, Rahimah also urged Ahuar who is also PKR Pensiangan division chief and Sabah Pakatan Harapan youth chief, to courageously come forward to clear himself of such serious allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and abuse of the party's name for personal gains.
She said this is necessary since Ahuar had in his statement issued to the media claimed that he was unclear of the actual reasons behind his sacking which was recommended by the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Besides this, Rahimah also called on the State government to seriously and immediately look into Ahuar's official complaint on alleged indiscriminate logging activities conducted by a company in Nabawan, which had allegedly devastated the surrounding environment.
She noted that Ahuar's complaint, copies of which were sent to the relevant government agencies including the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Sabah Forestry Department, Sabah Environmental Protection Department, Sabah Lands and Survey Department, had since gone viral after someone shared it via social media like WhatsApp and Facebook.
