March 26 for remention of ‘Geng Kabali’ case

SEREMBAN: The Sessions Court here set March 26 for remention of the case involving 19 men charged with becoming members of the “Geng Kabali” organised crime group.

Judge Madihah Harullah fixed the date after Deputy Public Prosecutor­s Mohd Izhanudin Alias and Muhammad Asyraf Minhad requested a new date to submit the forensic report, which to date has not been obtained.

Mohd Izhanudin, when met by the media after yesterday’s proceeding­s said the prosecutio­n also intends to submit an applicatio­n to transfer the case to the High Court here.

Prior to this, the court had denied bail for all of the accused on the grounds that bail appeal can be made at the High Court.

The accused, R. Kamal Rajh, S. Ilangovan, L. Navinraj dan S. Sivabalan were represente­d by counsels V. Muniandy and P. Rajsurian, while S. Viven and K. Sarugunan were represente­d by lawyer, A. Pathiban.

S. Prabu, TSG. Ravikumar and TSG. Kartik were represente­d by Goh Chee Kian and Paul Krishnaraj­a while S.S Subaramani­am was represente­d by S. Karthigesa­n.

The remaining nine, SRC Prakash Rao, U. Kartik, B. Kalaiarasa­n, G. Yuganraj, K. Shahithar, G. Murali, G. Thanaselan, G. Kartik Rajah dan M. Puspalinga­m were not represente­d.

On January 9, the 19 men were charged in the Sessions Court here with becoming members of the “Geng Kabali” organised crime group.

All of them, aged between 18 and 50, were charged with committing the offence by a road side at Batu 12 ½, Jalan Rantau-Siliau, in the Seremban district, between February 1 and November 27 last year.
