Individuals in quarantine centres told to take care of hygiene
KOTA KINABALU: The State Health Department has called on the individuals who are currently placed in quarantine centres in Sabah to be more responsible in taking care of their hygiene.
Its director, Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said the department had received complaints from the agencies who had been managing the quarantine centres.
The agencies claimed that some of the quarantined individuals had exhibited an ‘unpleasant attitude’.
“The department understands that some of the individuals might feel uncomfortable or unhappy for having to stay in the quarantine centres.
“However, we would like to urge these individuals to be responsible in taking care of their personal hygiene and the cleanliness of their surroundings,” said Dr Christina in a statement on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Dr Christina dismissed a report published by an online portal - an article which had accused the Osimal Foundation of monopolising the rapid test kit project from Singapore.
“We have never received the kits from the foundation. We only received a supply of reagents for the Kota Kinabalu Public Health laboratory,” she clarified.
She stressed that this is not the time to politicise issues for personal agendas.
She added that the department had conducted screening on residents and staff of senior care centres as well as Madrasah and tahfiz school students.
A total of 792 residents and staff in 16 senior care centres were tested and none of them tested positive.
Meanwhile, 617 tahfiz school students were screened and six of them tested positive.
