KOTA KINABALU: Nantong Si Jian Construction Group Co Ltd has donated 35,000 pieces of face mask and 1,500 bottles of hand sanitiser to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment.

Its minister, Datuk Christina Liew, received the donation from the project director of NTSJ Construction (M) Sdn Bhd, Ma Jianguo at the site of the Coral Bay Condominium project off Coastal Highway, here, on Wednesday.

“We thank the company for its generous contribution. We will distribute the face masks and hand sanitisers to all the agencies under my ministry.

“The State Government is pleased that NTSJ Construction is committed to complying with the Standard Operating

Procedures (SOPs) set by the State and Federal Governments.

“It is a role model as a developer in Sabah in taking all the necessary precautions, including Covid-19 screening for its foreign workers, to ensure they are in good health,” she said after the handing-over ceremony.

NTSJ Construction is a subsidiary of Nantong Si Jian Construction Group Co Ltd. Work on the premier condominium project has stopped since the imposition of the Movement Control Order on March 18.

Meanwhile, Ma said the 12-storey Coral Bay is the company’s first project in Sabah and its third construction project in Malaysia.

“Construction works commenced in November 2018 and the project is 30 per cent completed. However, we have stopped work completely during this MCO period.

Fortunately, the State Government has taken preventive measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. We are ready to resume operations in full compliance with the SOP set by the government,” he said.

Saying NTSJ Construction is eager to expand its business here under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Ma believes that the company’s ventures in Sabah will further cement the good ties between Malaysia and China.

Also present were the Ministry’s Political Secretary Vivien Lee, Sabah Tourism Board (STB) General Manager Noredah Othman and Deputy General Manager Tay Shu Lan.
