-

The assemblyman of Lahad Datu, Dumi Pg Masdal is committed in continuing efforts to provide clean water supply for the people in Pulau Sakar.

Dumi said previously, some methods have been carried out including research to track the source of clean water in the area.

However, the result came out negative and he was disappointed as he understood the difficulties faced by about 2,000 people living on the island.

“I will continue to fight for this matter as clean water supply is much needed by the people on the island.

“I am now in the middle of completing the documents of the proposal to supply clean water through seabed pipe to the island to be submitted to the federal and state governments,” he said.

Dumi said this when met after the handover ceremony of a hearse key for the use of the people in this district. He had also contributed a hemodialysis machine to Lahad Datu hospital.

Dumi when commenting on the people’s complaints on lack of water supplies said it was due to the water production from Sepagaya water treatment plant.

He said that the State Water Department had briefed him about the situation and he has ordered the Village Community Management Council to follow up the situation.

“Development plans to overcome the lack of water supply in all districts are currently ongoing and expected to be completed by 2023.

“Monitoring will be carried out to cater for the needs as well as the meet the increase of Lahad Datu residents,” he added.
