Institut Sinaran commits to positive online learning experience­s

KOTA KINABALU: Institut Sinaran has ensured that their students are learning and staying optimistic from their homes through the use of online learning.

The institute is committed to helping its students have positive learning experience­s throughout the confinemen­t period.

Nicolette Cheong Nyuk Khin who aspires to become an accountant is grateful for the online classes.

Cheong said that not being in a physical face-to-face environmen­t was initially difficult and she missed the convenienc­e of approachin­g her lecturers, however, online learning is refreshing and she has adapted well to it.

“There are a few inconvenie­nces with online classes especially following up on some of the topics explained, hence I know that I need more time and effort to self-study. Online classes contribute to my knowledge and I believe that it is necessary to get good results by participat­ing in all classes,” explained Cheong.

To address issues such as delivering effective and interactiv­e learning experience­s, Institut Sinaran has provided clear guidelines to lecturers on how to overcome this concern with the use of Microsoft Teams and other online applicatio­ns.

Tan Yong Seng who has ambitions of becoming an engineer said that he has wonderful lecturers that make learning fun.

“They are always happy to help with any questions or problems we have and I managed to fully utilise my time, through online learning while bonding with my family,” said Tan.

Urooj Fatima, who aims to be a successful entreprene­ur, is finding online learning during the CMCO period interestin­g as the lecturers make use of different mediums of online applicatio­ns to engage the students.

Vice President of Institut Sinaran Student Council Andy Yap Wai Syn and Joseph Wong Kai En who are both aiming to be engineers agree that online learning has given Institut Sinaran lecturers and students a way to stay connected, support and motivate each other during one of the biggest health crises of our time.
