Activist’s office splashed with paint
KOTA KINABALU: The office of an activist fighting for the rights of the indigenous people of Sabah (OAS) was splashed with paint around 1am yesterday.
The perpetrator was captured by a hidden close circuit TV camera in front of the premises at Iramanis near here.
The office owner and activist of OAS, Dato Verdon Bahanda, in a media statement described the incident as related to the threat against him, which also included murder threat due to him being vocal at MedSos recently.
He said that he believed the murder threat which was made viral last week was related to the latest incident.
“I believe it is done by people who have been paid or by the followers of those protecting the illegal immigrants,” he said.
Verdon added that he doesn’t have any enemies in business nor has he made any enemies with any people.
“I believe this is all related to the OAS movement which I have been doing on a large scale recently,” he said.
He said that the movement would definitely cause problems towards the parties who are protecting the illegal immigrants and they may be worried that the movement is jeopardizing their status.
“This has been planned properly,” he claimed of the incidents that had transpired.
“I consider all their action as acts of cowardice and they are not aware that because of their action, they will be swi ly detected by the authorities,” said Verdon a er lodging a police report yesterday a ernoon.
