Call to inspect all faulty streetlights in Sandakan

-

SANDAKAN: The Complaints Bureau chief of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Sandakan Robert Chong has urged elected representatives and their community development office (PPM) to go down to ground and inspect all faulty streetlights.

Chong said he had highlighted this matter several times but no action was taken.

He said the elected representatives should know their duties towards Sandakan people and not giving excuses.

“Faulty streetlights will cause darkness in the streets and tdrivers and padestrians will in danger.

“It will be more dangerous when heavy rain occurs and many accidents have occurred but this can be avoided if streetlightings are repaired,” he said.

Chong said, taking Jalan Buli Sim Sim to Lintas Utara Mile 4 as examples, these roads are most frequently used but part of them is in total darkness.

He said he even personally sent a to the elected people’s representative, Calvin Chong regarding this matter but still waiting for his action.

“This is regular maintenance work and it’s not a new development. The local council has a committee called ‘Lebuhraya’ to look after this type of matter but nothing has been done.

He also questioned the work specification of PPM appointed by elected representative as they had not been going to the ground check on matters highlighted.

Chong urged them to take up this matter seriously and for the sake of safety and Sandakan people.
