Low key celebration for navy ship's 15th anniversary
SEMPORNA: The 15th anniversary celebration of KD Sri Semporna was held on Wednesday, involving only certain agencies due to the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Government official of Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) KD Sri Semporna, Captain Ahmad Nazree Bin Abu Hassan believed that the event held on Wednesday is a special event in which to celebrate 15th anniversary of KD Sri Semporna.
The public were not involved due to the RMCO and all the SOP was fully complied with. Nazree highlighted that this anniversary is in conjunction with the handing over of power from the British to Malaya on 12 July 1958 in Singapore.
Although the event held was simple and not like those planned before, Nazree expressed his gratitude for the success of the event.
"So, for this year's program we only do normally due to PKP, therefore the program held was a congregational prayer program and invited the first crew or first time citizens or veterans who have served here. They have shared their experiences with us here.
"The next activity was a gun shooting event involving 34 agencies and a diving event using a team of 15 people 15 meters 15 minutes to 1500 hours," he said.
Ahmad believed that the condition of Semporna especially around the island is under control and fully supervised, not only by RMN, but also other agencies.
"I can guarantee that for now, the waters around Semporna are very satisfactory, peaceful and controlled and this is also through the cooperation of other agencies in the islands.
"For example, the marine police are patrolling with ATMs involved and there are agencies that determine the flooding rate to ensure the water situation there is safe. Currently, Semporna is in a state of peace and under control," he said.
"Security forces will always be at the location of the resort islands to monitor the situation on the island and the safety of tourists and subsequently the military personnel will be on guard especially during Movement Control Orders (MCO), and safety patrols around the island are also carried out by officers," he added.
