Jimmy’s son contesting Sri Tanjong seat

-

TAWAU: Democratic Action Party (DAP) ‘new face’ candidate for N.69 Sri Tanjong in the Sabah State Election has already been the talk among political observers as Justin Wong Yun Bin, 28, enters his father Datuk Jimmy Wong’s footsteps in the local political arena.

Exposed to the domestic and national political scene since young, he eventually joined politics and currently is the Sabah DAP state committee and Tawau Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (Dapsy) chief.

Equipped with a Bachelor of Tourism Management (Hons), University of Surrey, LLB (Hons), Northumbria University, Bar Professional Training Course, The Honourable Society of Middle Temple, Justin is described as mild mannered compared to his father Jimmy a.k.a Tawau Tiger who is ferocious in fighting for justice.

Even among the local media, some described him as wellmannered, polite to the elderly but sharp on issues.

As a new face, he will be facing an eight-cornered fight against candidates from Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) vice president Wong Su Fui, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Lim Thing Khai, Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah (PPRS) Ricky Phang Siau Chern, Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) Kour Ken Keat, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS) Yapp Yin Hoau, Independent Chung Yaw Hui and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Rakyat Sabah (STAR) Fung Len Fui.

After his candidacy to contest for the N69 Sri Tanjong seat under Warisan logo was officially announced by the Election Commission yesterday, he already started apologizing to the members of the media who had to wait under the hot sun while he was in the nomination centre.

In his own words to the media, he said, “I respect everyone has the right to contest and the sanctity of the election. I hope it will be a fair and gentlemen fight. One thing we all have in common is that every candidate will ensure this election campaign is conducted in accordance with the SOP set by EC.”
