Usno ‘borrowed’ by Umno
SANDAKAN: United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) has never died, and all the Umno members in the party are just Usno members wearing Umno shirts, said Usno State Election Machinery director Dato Nani Sakami.
Nani said Usno was ‘borrowed’ by Umno in the past when its members joined Umno, and now it is time for the party to return.
He said this when introducing Usno candidate contesting in Karamunting state seat here.
“However, I could not comment further on the direction and manifesto of the party as they will be announced by the party’s leaders,” he said.
The candidate, Adam S. Chal, 38, said that he is going to focus on five points if he wins the seat.
“I am going to restructure the squatter settlement as a lot of them in the Karamunting area are abandoned, dilapidated and some are even burnt down.
“I am going to upgrade the infrastructures and facilities in the areas. Old buildings have to be repaired and maintained. I will create job opportunities for the youths here; provide programmes, such as entrepreneurship training so that they could generate income for their families.
“I will also focus on the quality of our internet access here. As we know, we all need it daily and I see that it is a big problem in the Karamunting area.
I will find ways so that good quality internet could be utilised not only by the people, but also schools,” he said,
He added that he would focus on beautifying and transforming the beach, as well as pay attention to the cleanliness issue.
On the people’s support, Adam said the party’s strategy for his seat would be for him to go from house-to-house and walkabouts, so as to introduce himself to the people as he is new in politics.
