Police report against FB user for tarnishing Shafie’s image

-

SANDAKAN: A Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidate for Elopura, the incumbent Calvin Chong Ket Kiun, had lodged a police report against a Facebook user for spreading racist statement and tarnishing the image of caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal.

The Facebook post shared by a Facebook user had stated “All Chinese people in Sandakan, if you still vote for Shafie (and his party), you will all be forced to move to Telupid because a Filipino leader cannot be trusted. If Shafie becomes Chief Minister, he will announce himself that he is the Sultan”. Following the September 10 post, Chong had lodged a police report at about 10.49am at the Sandakan police station yesterday.

“This slander could tarnish the good name and reputation of our political leader. It is also baseless.

“This act seems like some individuals are trying to influence the rakyat during this state election season,” he said.
