PN opts for matured political campaign
LAHAD DATU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Silam seat, Abdul Hakim Gulam Hassan, said PN will campaign in a mature way as a leader is judged by his action.
Abdul Hakim said leaders need to always be matured and openminded because they will become an example to the people.
He was aware of the various issues and rumours about him which were circulated on social media after he was announced as the candidate for Silam.
“I believe that we should always look ahead, and every problem can be solved by having discussion.
“What is the point of spreading slander on social media? Our people are matured enough, they are not easily influenced by such propaganda,” he said.
Abdul Hakim believed the party would not face any problem to wrest the Silam seat from its incumbent, Dumi Pg Masdal.
He said PN and the Parti Pribumi
Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) which is led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, is a party that is always close to people’s heart.
“Abah (Muhyiddin) is known for his concern towards the people and as members of the party, we are all nurtured the same way.
“Assisting the people regardless of their race, ancestry, religion and background has always become our priority,” he said.
On his vision for Silam, Abdul Hakim said he had already identified the problems and issues of people.
He said he would focus on the settlement and provide basic infrastructure such as water and electricity supplies.
Abdul Hakim added that education and economy improvement would also be in his list for Silam.
The Silam seat will see a sixcornered contest between Abdul Hakim with incumbent Dumi Pg Masdal (Warisan), Ahmad Tiong (Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah), Datuk Matusin Sunsang (Parti Cinta Sabah), Mohammad Hamdan Abdullah (Usno) and Erwan Johan (Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah).
