Candidates reminded to apply for police permit

PENAMPANG: All the 25 candidates contesting in Penampang and Putatan are reminded to apply for permit from the police if they wish to organise public talks during the two-week campaign period.

Penampang police chief DSP Haris Ibrahim said applicatio­n of permit must be made early for it to be approved.

“This is also to avoid any confusion or overlappin­g in areas by party candidates during the campaign period.

“We want to avoid any conflict, which may lead to argument and violent behavior, by opposition parties,” he said.

Penampang and Putatan will see 25 candidates contesting in the September 26 Sabah State Election 2020.

N. 23 Petagas with six candidates, N. 24 Tanjung Keramat (five), N. 25 Kepayan (seven) and N. 26 Moyog (seven).

Haris also reminded all candidates, members and supporters to continue to abide by the SOP during the campaign period.

“We are still in the midst of the recovery movement control order of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“So we urge everyone to stay safe, respect other party members and behave oneself during campaign to avoid unnecessar­y incident,” he said.
