Tycoons urged to reach out to small-scale traders

-

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Successful Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera tycoons should assist and develop small-scale traders in Sarawak, advised Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang.

According to him, these traders needed help in increasing their incomes.

“From the bottom of my heart, I ask that our successful Bumiputera tycoons to come forward and assist fellow Bumiputera traders who are struggling.

“The same also applies to the non-Bumiputera tycoons. Don’t just simply profit from our resources and enjoy them for yourselves; instead, reach out to the small-scale traders and help them,” he said in officiating at the ‘Ibu Gemilang Community Service’ programme in Kampung

Meranek here yesterday, which was conducted by Sarawak Malay Chamber of Economy (Dekoms).

Adding on, Idris said the successful businessmen could play their role as mentors to the small-scale traders, so that the latter could learn the skills and gain the knowledge that would enable them to flourish.

“Share the experience with them – be the mentors to small-scale traders who are still struggling; help them develop their business,” he added.

On a separate subject, Idris said he had proposed to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg the plan to establish a new affordable housing area slated for young married couples and single mothers in Muara Tuang.
