-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) riders - Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo - produced brilliant performances to secure front-row spots for the San Marino Grand Prix race at the Misano World Circuit in Italy.

Morbidelli and Quartararo clocked 1 minute 31.723 seconds and 1:31.791 seconds respectively to take the second and third spot in Saturday’s qualifying session.

Spaniard, Maverick Vinales of Monster Energy Yamaha, took the pole position for the second time after the Austrian GP last month with a time of 1 minute 31.411 seconds.

“I felt quite strong and I believe that I can do my lap alone. I try to do it, and it came out a pretty good lap, but unfortunately Maverick came much better. Anyway, the first-row start is quite important for us, and we’ll try to make a good job tomorrow since we start from a good position,” Morbidelli said after the qualifying session.

In Moto2 class, Petronas Sprinta Racing duo -- Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon came in sixth and 17th spot with a time of 1 minute 36.663 seconds, and 1:37.435 secs, respectively.

Malaysian rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah of Aspar Team, who is making a return after skipping the Styrian GP last month due to injury, came in 14th spot, clocking 1:37.106 secs.

Petronas Sprinta Racing Moto3 rider, John McPhee of Great Britain, will start in 17th place for tomorrow’s race after posting a time of 1:43.327 seconds. -
